On March 18-19, 2021, the 9th FinTech & 8th InsurTech Digital Congress took place. Almost 500 participants joined the online event, where substantive speeches and debates focused on current trends and the future of the fintech and insurtech industry in Poland was presented.

The congress was inaugurated by Marcin Petrykowski, Chairman of the FinTech Digital Congress Advisory Board, Managing Director, S&P Global, who spoke about redefining values in the post-COVID era. This statement was supplemented by an interview with Stefan Btory, who, based on his own experience and experience as the President of Booksy, summed up the value of building a business. During the opening debate, Dawid Rożek, ZEN, Ewa Szmidt-Belcarz, Empik, Marta Wrochna-Łastowska, Żabka and Katarzyna Zubrzycka, Visa focused on Embedded Finance issues – combining traditional financial services with other non-financial services as a new way to attract more customers and building value for users. Karol Sadaj, Aion and Szymon Wałach from PKO Banku Polski talked about banking as a service and a bold vision of digital banking. There were also talks about the possibilities and methods of cooperation between banks and non-banking companies with Big-Tech – Paweł Jakubik, a member of the Microsoft management board, spoke about it together with debate participants.

In subsequent parts of the congress, issues related to payment technology, dynamic growth of electronic payments, increasing competitiveness and innovation in the financial sector, current trends, market processes and business challenges as well as technological support in running a business for SMEs were discussed. Participants of the debate were:  Bartłomiej Nocoń, ZBP and Member of the Board, EPC,  Anna Szczygielska, Viafintech,  Marcin Wąsikowski, UNIQA, Jan Zimowicz, Aegon, Katarzyna Królak-Wyszyńska, Innovatika,  Michał Pawlik, SMEO and Jarosław Dąbrowski, DFCM Ltd. During the FinTech & Insurtech Stage. Winners thanks to technology, participants listened to a series of technological use cases by representatives of Poland, Great Britain and the United States.

The second day of the event had topics related to business trends and value building. Adam Malinowski, Signal Iduna led a debate dedicated to Customer Value, where, together with Joanną Erdman, mBank and Marat Nevretdinov,  Europa Ubezpieczenia, among others, talked about the automation of processes and the transformation of the organisation into a pro-customer one. Another important issue was the digital leap into the future of the insurance industry and the changes that influenced it with the digital acceleration. Frank Genheimer, Andrzej Miron from Nationale-Nederlanden and Agnieszka Wrońska from Link 4 shared their experiences and observations in the area. The debate was hosted by Cezary Świerszcz, Founder, Bacca; Chief Innovation Advisor at Insly. There were also telemedicine issues related to innovations. Automation during the treatment process was discussed by Andrzej Osuch from LUX MEDGroup, with Anna Janiczek, PZU Zdrowie and Marek Witulski, Siemens Healthineers. The discussion, led by Dr. Krzysztof Korus, DLK Legal Korus, was devoted to the subject of open banking as an element of a broader look into the future. In the next block of Corporate Innovation vs Venture Capital Investments, value building was introduced by Jan Kastory and his interlocutors – Krzysztof Konopiński,Private Equity Investor, Adam Niewiński, OTB Ventures, Cezary Stypułkowski, mBank and Małgorzata Walczak, PFR Venture, who raised the extremely important topic of investments on the Polish market and wondered if Polish banking had retained the ability to innovate. During the startup session, the first international pitching session wa shield, attended by representatives of promising start-ups, including Edyta Musielak, Cashy, Nikolaus Haufler, Wetterheld, Rauno Sigur, DriveX, Pietjan Vandooren, Rockestate. The last of the issues discussed was the topic fo HR. What does HR look like during and after the pandemic? We had the pleasure to listen to discussions with Magdalena Bylinowicz, HRK, Katarzyna Turska, Sodexo, Dorota Piotrowska, Network Perspective and Roberta Zapotoczny, PFR Portal PPK.
