On 23-24 November 2017, the III edition of the FinTech Digital Congress took place in The Westin Warsaw. The event brought together participants and the creators of the dynamically evolving FinTech branch, including representatives of the financial sector, start-ups, as well as investors and representatives of investment funds. This edition brought together 475 participants, who took part in 6 discussion panels, 2 firechats and 21 individual presentations, actively presented by 55 speakers.

The grand opening of the Congresses, during the joint part of the FinTech and InsurTech Digital Congresses was hosted by: Marcin Petrykowski, Vice-Chairman of the FinTech Digital Congress Advisory Board; Managing Director of S&P Global and Witold Jaworski, Chairman of the InsurTech Digital Congress and President of the Management Board of NIO. Next, the participants had the pleasure to listen to three presentations from Tomasz Czechowicz, Bundeep Singh Rangar and Hesus Inoma. The joint part of the Congress ended with a discussion panel regarding the future of the financial brand in the era of digitization and the changes in the HR structures that come with it.

The first presentation which was dedicated to the fintech branch was about the chances and dangers connected with the digital world. The participants could listen to presentations about creativity, personal information in neobanks and solutions connected with digital identity. Following this, among the debated topics were new ways of identification in the era of digitization, the growing threat of cyberattacks as well as the convergence of varying technologies. The next block of the congress started a discussion on blockchain – what it is, where it has been implemented as well as what its’ role is. They could listen to speeches about crypto-currencies, and also a case study about the implementation of that technology in banking institutions.

The second day of the Congress started with a conversation about the future of the financial market. Presented next were case studies talking about how to open a fintech, and the following block was about the regulation of the fintech branch in both Poland and the European Union. Also debated was topics such as AI & Machine Learning, including how to humanize technology, and how biometrics is the new FinTech consumer trend, as well as how to use AI & Big Data to fill the gaps in client-bank relations. During the congress, some of the other topics that came up included the flow of large amounts of money in fintech transactions, whether or not in Poland it’s possible to breed a so-called “unicorn”, what the available cloud solutions for the financial and fintech branches are as well as what instruments exist to limit the risk management on the FOREX market. The discussion panel that closed the congress was about the complicated servicing of legal transactions, ICO and disruptive venture capital.
